Why I Should Move

Ah, Richmond, the great love-hate relationship of my life. Last week I went to a lecture about Healthcare reform. One of the professors on the panel mentioned that if you want to learn about your city you should read the letters to the editor in the local news paper. Against my better judgement I gave it a whirl. This is what I found:

On the Stupak-Pitts amendment:
Lets get to the real heart of the matter, stop portraying promiscuity as freedom, and reveal it for what it truly is: Slavery to sin.
*this one is my favorite

On Universal Healthcare:
Jesus taught love, kindness and caring for the widows and the poor-but never did he advocate compelling anyone to do these things.

And again on Universal Healthcare-in response to news that the House passed the bill around Veterans Day and the anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall:
The first thing I saw in the paper that day was the headline that the U.S. House had passed the healthcare bill. To me this is another attempt to take away my freedom of choice.
I was blessed to be born in America. As a kid growing up during WWII I viewed the servicemen as my heroes. They were the liberators of millions, and not much older than me. Today I still look to our armed forces as a special breed.
In honor of the many who have given their all in fighting tyranny since this nation was founded, I pledge to take a stand for our God-given freedoms. Even He gives us the ultimate freedom to accept or reject Him.

 I won't even provide commentary....
